So…….I’m obviously a tad behind on posting my weekly updates.
Week 2 is when I hit a bit of a snag in my progress. I was still following the challenge but it wasn’t every day like I had planned. For example, I did day 7 on Sunday (since I started my challenge on a Sunday), however I did day 8 on a Wednesday. Normally this pattern causes me to give up on a fitness program because I didn’t follow the schedule exactly how it was mapped out. Silly, I know, but that is how my brain is wired. This last year or so I have really been trying to train my brain to think about the marathon, instead of the sprint. By that I mean learning to be okay with the days that I falter with my workout schedule, cleaning schedule, or whatever is happening in my life.
Going with the flow isn’t really my thing.
But I am working on it. I am realizing that nothing in life is perfectly on schedule all the time. I am realizing it’s okay to miss a workout and pick up where you left off tomorrow. I am learning it’s okay to not beat myself up over it and feel horrible. Believe it or not that is one of the things that yoga can do for you, it can change your mental well being. I know that a lot of people say that (and right now, you’re thinking “oh great, she’s one of those people”). Ya know what, maybe I am turning into one of those people. And that’s not such a bad thing. Letting go of the guilt, shame, self-consciousness, etc for gaining weight, not being consistent with exercise, or whatever you (and I) struggle with is perfectly perfect.
I read a blog post today that the Frugal Girl posted (she is one of my favorite bloggers) that is right along these lines. She talked about how nothing is all good and nothing is all bad. Basically everything has its’ goods and bads, and that is okay.
It’s okay to accept that and move forward.
And that is exactly what I am going to do: give myself a little grace and patience to achieve my goals. That is really all of us can do, right?
So I hope you will give yourself some patience and grace with whatever you have going on in your life, good or bad.
P.S: I am still following the challenge and LOVING IT!!! I am looking forward to the 30 Day Yoga Camp she has. Got a little sidetracked with other thoughts, but it’s my blog so I can do that 🙂 Listed below is the schedule I followed for week 2:
