Health goals, New Year’s resolutions, etc.
It’s that time of year when people make resolutions to be healthy either by joining a gym, partnering with a friend for accountability, Weight Watchers, or whatever they feel will motivate them. While these are all amazing and admirable goals, a lot of us lack control when it comes to what foods we put in our bodies. Let me tell you, I’m no exception to that. I love love love cookies, ice cream, and candy. I have one hell of a sweet tooth. It takes a serious, conscious effort to keep it in check.
The last few years I’ve really been into watching what ingredients and chemicals I put in my body. I can’t completely eliminate every potentially toxic item but I can at least try. Many of our foods items are made from scratch now. And no it doesn’t take up a ton of time either. You wouldn’t believe how many times I have been asked that. I swear if you have the ingredients in your house then it is no quicker than opening the jar, can, or bottle. I have an amazing spaghetti sauce recipe that I will share in another post.
So today I wanted to share my absolute favorite salad dressing.
No kidding, I will take a tiny mason jar or container to restaurants to use on my salads, I love it that much. I will say that if you don’t like mustard, you may not like this. I combined a few different recipes I found online and then came up with this addicting concoction.
Ingredients:
- 5 tbsp. (about 1/3 c) light tasting olive oil
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice (1/8 c) fresh squeezed or bottled, I use bottled
- 1-2 tbsp. Gulden’s spicy mustard (or whatever mustard you like). I use way more than this amount because I love how it tastes with more mustard.
- few dashes of pepper
Directions:
Add all ingredients together in your choice of container and shake. That’s it!

Super simple dressing!
I use a dressing container now but I started out just using a mason jar. I bought this dressing container because it had a concentrated spout. I tend to be on the generous side when it comes to dressing so a specific container helps control that. It takes me less than 2 minutes to make this dressing, you just can’t beat that!
Keep in mind that the measurements don’t have to be exact (I like being exact with the olive oil and lemon juice proportions since that’s the taste I like). You can add or subtract what you like. The point is that you will have a delicious, healthy salad dressing and you know every ingredient that is in it. So there you have my 3 ingredient healthy salad dressing. Grab your ingredients and get to makin!
